Jesus Deck at the Bradwell Festival 1st July 2017

We were blessed with a sunny and warm day for the Bradwell festival this year, although the wind proved slightly problematic for keeping the leaflets in situ! The visitors started arriving about 10.30-11 after following a pilgrimage route – there were two options depending on how fit you were feeling! The main stage hosted speakers and singers throughout the day – I particularly enjoyed the Kingsland Church Gospel Choir.

We had our own separate gazebo, and there were other stalls selling fairtrade products and hand carved wooden gifts. The Othona Community buildings and lovely Peace Garden were also available for use, and you could easily walk down to the beach. Quiet, contemplative sessions also took place in St Peter’s chapel.

We were consistently busy, sometimes having 3 readers at once, and often having a whole family attend for readings. I particularly enjoyed the two readings I did with two young girls – probably 13 and 9. They were so open and interested; none of the usual cares and woes of life yet. They went home with gospels, and saying they would be talking to Jesus more. Another reader experienced a visitor make a commitment to Jesus who was seeing an evil spirit in front of him, and helped release a believer into speaking in tongues. A very powerful time.

Here is a message our reader was sent a week later – “I have been singing in tongues and today I spoke as I was walking through the fields. It usually just happens after I pray very sincerely. I even had some sort of understanding of what I said today – my soul was praising God for creation and thanking Him for the beautiful colours around me…blue sky, the fields and the butterflies. I felt very happy afterwards. Thank you so much for helping me overcome this fear of it”

We would like to thank the members of the team who gave their time to help – Colin, Gerald, Hana, Jacquie, Joan and Clare.
