Jesus Deck At The New Look Bradwell Festival 2016
Saturday, 2 July saw the inauguration of the ‘new look’ Bradwell Festival. Instead of the traditional pilgrimage walk and time of worship the new Festival had the feel of a micro Greenbelt with Worship along with a Beer Tent, with Christian music lead by John Pantry on the Chapel field and Open Mic available at Othona, plus much, much more. The sun shone, the people came and mingled between the extended site of the Chapel ‘thin space’ to the warm welcome extended by the Othona Community with delicious food and drink available all day. There were many stalls to browse in or engage with including the Salvation Army, Northumbria Community, Diocesan Bookshop etc and the Jesus Deck. We were a team of four comprising Jacquie Messenger, Colin Bass, Vernon Ross and myself, Gillian Warren. We had a flow of pilgrims seeking us out – those who were established on the spiritual path and those who were tentatively seeking the path. We even had a Bishop from Africa asking deep questions about the Jesus Deck and its possible use in his continent. It was a rewarding experience for us all and we all feel the Festival will grow in the years to come. Our congratulations to the Festival organising Committee for their vision and hard work.
Next year’s festival will take place on the 1st – 2nd July 2017, see www.bradwellfestival.com for more information – hope to see you there!
